THEY NEED US

anak-jalananWhenever you are hungry, all you have to do is open the refrigerator and look for your favorite snack. Or, if the refrigerator happens to be empty, you ask for some money from your parents to buy some food. But are you aware that many children in your city and even in your neighborhood are not as fortunate as you are?? There are children who livebelow the poverty line, roaming around the city as beggars, street musicians, and scavengers. These children cannot afford a single decent meal. Consequently, they suffer from hunger since they have nothing to eat. These children cannot improve their lives without help from those more fortunate. Actually, there are at least three ways that you can help them.

Firstly, you can help these poor children by donating money toa home or shelter for street children. Generally, in a city where there are children roaming the streets for food or money, some people are generous enogh to establish a home where the children can go whenever they need shelter. See if you can find one in your city. Being a donor, you don’t have to worry about how your donation will be spent. The people who are running to shelter will use the money for the children’s education, food, or even clothes.

Secondly, you can give them a greater contribution by being a voluntary worker at a shelter for street children. Start an emergency schooling program for them, in which you and your friends can teach them basic reading and writing, simple mathematics, and general knowledge at your spare time.

Thirdly, you can join charitable organizations. These organizations consolidate members efforts to assist unfortunate children to lead a more decent life in the future. For example, the members may set up projects to raise founds for these children.

Therefore, as a civilized human being, you cannot just ignore these less fortunate children. They need you and you really should help them in any way you can. Hopefully, in the near future we are not going to see such hearth-rendering scenes as you see in the city street.
